our teaching philosophy

We believe in not only teaching you how to play your instrument, but how to understand it and the music that you are producing. For this reason, we include theory in all our courses. Music, in essence, is a language and by mastering theory we are able to understand musical language. This allows us to communicate with musicians all over the world and understand the meaning of musical compositions that were written now and hundreds of years ago.

about intro courses | online

Before starting the course, an online introductory meeting will be set up to understand where you are at and what you are looking to gain, and the genre you want to create, so the course can be more tailored to your learning needs. Once the course is complete you have the option to continue with monthly lessons with a first free trial lesson to gauge experience level to find which lesson to start from. See below for an in depth look at what each course will cover.

We will cover the free DAW PreSonus One 6, where we will go over the basics of how to navigate a DAW, recording live into your Desktop or Laptop Computer, what is midi, what are plug-ins, and the free tools offered by PreSonus such as loops, built-in plugins, and how to use your own computer keyboard to create music. If you have a DAW already bought or are considering it. We will cover the specified DAW and other Free Tools at your disposal, i.e, Free Plug-ins, instruments, and other resources to make music all with your midi or computer keyboard.
We will then track a song you have worked on or a cover you want to record. Don’t worry about hardware if you do not have it. I will show you how you can easily record from your phone and then edit it into a demo you then go on to record when you do have the hardware or access to a recording studio.
You will also have the option to go over the basics of Sound Design and Synthesis to create awesome EDM tracks or add a more electronic or atmospheric sound to your music. But this is only optional and will be discussed in our introductory meeting.

We will cover the very basics of music theory, and topics such as, what is music theory, the 12 notes of Western music, how to see and use these notes on your instrument, what are intervals, what are scales and scale degrees, The circle of fifths and how to use it as a songwriting tool. We will also cover ear training and how to listen and pick apart a song.
We will then break down a song of your choice into the elements of songwriting learned in the course and see if we can recreate it. Or instead, if you have a song idea already, we will help build on it and you will see how you can take any small idea and turn it into a full song.
